In a press release sent out on Monday(11-27-23) it was revealed that the Midwestern-based American Late Model Series(ALMS) has been given new life after lying dormant for the past two seasons. Sam Driggers, the owner of that series, is bringing it back to life as part of his purchase of and merger with the Valvoline Iron-Man Series. The new tour will be labeled as the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series.
The new circuit will begin operations in 2024.
In much the same way the Iron-Man Series was divided into two parts, the newly joined pieces will have a Northern region and a Southern region. The Northern tour will focus on shows to be held in northern Kentucky along with Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. The Southern tour will contest events primarily in southern Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.
The newly branded series will use a $5,000 to $10,000-to-win purse structure similar to that of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals. Also, DIRTcarLate Model technical and tire rules will be in use.
Former Iron-Man owner Chris Tilley will serve as the overseer of day-to-day operations while Michael Despain will handle announcing and public relations duties.
The release added that the 2024 schedule is being completed at this time.
